Cristina, thank you for your work. Sharks have been around for so long… to think that humanity could (and might) wipe them out this century is unfathomable. The damage our ocean endures is unfathomable. Keeps me up at night too.

Thank you for reading. We do so much destruction to these animals. It helps to know there are people who have come to appreciate and care about them as I have, as we all should.

very interesting read, and I absolutely loved the first and last B&W photos, and the one of Queen scattering the fish... they're really great photos...

Loved reading this captivating piece! Our oceans need sharks, and they need policies that ensure more permeable protection for migrating species. What a privilege to have met Queen and so many other species of sharks around the world. I particularly enjoyed reading about the mythological significance of sharks across cultures which I had no idea about :)

Thank you so much for reading! I have spent a lot of time with coastal and Indigenous communities and many have a special reverence for sharks. Some of the legends and beliefs are just so beautiful. Glad I can help share them

This is incredible. We also need this ancestral knowledge and relationships in how we perceive the world. Please keep sharing! Excited for the next story already.

100 million sharks killed annually?! Breaks my heart!

I swam from St. Lucia to Martinique in 2018 (first woman to swim that channel) and was hoping I might see a shark along the way, but no luck. I adore your beautiful photos of these incredible animals. I wish the nonsense over "Jaws" and the myths surrounding various uses for their fins and other parts would fade fast. We need better regulation and enforcement to protect these apex ocean animals!

What an achievement! And in a beautiful part of the world too. I agree we need more understanding and better laws for these animals. Thank you so much for reading
